Division Champions

The Red Hots defeated Field of Nightmares 19-4 and clinched 1st place for only their second time in Red Hots franchise history.  They last finished in first place back in the Fall 2007 season where they finished with a 5-1-1 record and eventually won the City Championship.

The Red Hots are now 6-0, and have a chance at finishing the season undefeated for the first time in franchise history next Sunday.

Red Hots Remain Undefeated

Despite not having 4 of the team's regular players Sunday night, the Red Hots managed to avoid a loss and remain undefeated at 5-0. Huge thanks to Mana and former Red Hots Matt Gomes & Judy Perez for filling in like the good old days :)

DoubleHeader, Double Win

The Red Hots had a doubleheader today and took care of business.

Solid win in Game 1 against the Alley Cats, winning it 17-6.  In Game 2 the Red Hots jumped to a 10-0 lead after one inning, winning it with ease, 18-6.

Honorable mention to Ron Guirnalda who remains batting 1.000 going 9 for 9.  It must be the cool Red Hots Tornado necklace that he is now sportin!

The Red Hots have a bye next week, we'll see you back on October 7th.

2012 Playoffs: Red Hots Outlast Shockers

Two 3rd place teams battled it out Tuesday night in the first round of the Summer Playoffs.  Shockers kicked things off by scoring 3 runs, but the Red Hots rallied back with 5 of their own.  The Red Hots at one point stretched their lead to 4 runs at 9-5, but the Shockers weren't done.  They also had a rally of their own to not only tie the game 9-9 in the 6th, but to take the lead 10-9 in the top of the 7th inning.

But in dramatic fashion, the Red Hots remained focused and scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning...a walk off win thanks to Jazz Smith's single to end the game, 11-10 for the Red Hots.

This advances the Red Hots to the next round which will be Saturday August 4th at 11am.  GO RED HOTS

Monkey Off Our Back!

Sure it may have taken five years, but it made the win that much sweeter.

The Red Hots dominated Last Call winning it 7-1.  Outstanding defensive plays by all Red Hot players throughout the game, kept Last Call away from the score sheet up until the 6th inning where they managed to squeak out a run.  This win clinched 3rd place in the division for their 4th year in a row at Walnut Creek.

Here are some team records that were broken this summer:

  • 10 wins (most wins in a season, finishing 10-4)
  • Best Defensive Team in history (allowing only 6.1 runs per game)
  • Most Runs Differential (70 runs scored than allowed)
Congratulations to the Red Hots on a great season!  Now we're headed to the Playoffs!

Red Hots Let One Slip Away, Lose 10-9

The Red Hots have lost two in a row for the first time this season, losing to Id Hit That 10-9.  "Even championship teams have losing streaks" said outfielder Jazz Smith.

The good news is the team is still in the driver's seat to clinch a playoff berth.  All they need is either a win or a loss from I'd Hit That and they will clinch a playoff spot.

No First Place For You!

Red Hots stayed toe to toe with Family Ties until the wheels fell off in the 5th inning, allowing 10 runs to lose the game 12-6.

Family Ties plays the bottom 3 teams in the standings, so that pretty much locks up first place for them.

With 3 games remaining, the Red Hots need to remain in the Top 3 to make the playoffs.

Prayers not yet answered, lose to Red Hots, 22-2

Praying For A Win needs to get with St. Matt's and find out why their prayers haven't been answered.   Still looking for that first win, they lose to the Red Hots, 22-2 in a shortened 4 inning match.

With I'd Hit That losing earlier Sunday, this places the Red Hots in a nice position in their hopes of a playoff berth.

A win in their next game, coupled with another I'd Hit That loss, will give the Red Hots a playoff berth.

DEFENSE

You gotta love this team.

Sweater Puppies came out with their entire arsenal, launching hit after hit both infield and into very deep outfield, but the Red Hots silenced all but two runs to win it 8-2.

Ivan had a perfect game going until the 4th inning with 2 outs when Sweater Puppies found a base hit into right center.

The Red Hots have jumped over Sweater Puppies in the standings as they fall to 6-2-1, both losses to the Red Hots

Brian's HR lifts Red Hots

Bottom of the 3rd inning, score is 4-4, with 2 outs...

Ron pops up in what appears to be an easy out for I'd Hit That's first baseman....

But the softball gods had other plans....

Their first baseman bobbled the ball during his catch which fell to the ground..and the Rally Monkey makes his appearance...

Ron G's safe at first, Jaime had a professional at-bat and walks on balls.  Brian "B-lohana" Kerr crushes one to right center for a 3-run home run. The Red Hots defense locked it down and kept I'd Hit That to 6 runs, winning the game 7-6.  Honorable mentions to Minh and Jazz going for a combined 6 for 6!

The Red Hots have sole possession of 1st place in the standings!

Season Opener Shutout

The team is back and it couldn't have gone better.
With six runs in the first three innings, Red Hots left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
RBI singles by Jazz Smith, Ashley Smith, and Josh Hendren during the second inning helped the Red Hots put some runs on the board early.
Brian Kerr had a memorable day.  He singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.
Red Hots hammered St. Matt's pitching as eight hitters had a field day, combining for 21 hits, 14 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
They increased their lead with three runs in the third. A clutch passed ball scored Kaitlyn Randall to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Ivan Perez's double, plating Kerr and Teresa Hendren.
Red Hots added four more runs in the top of the fifth. Jazz Smith singled, plating Perez to start the inning. That was followed up by Ashley's single, scoring Jazz.
A team known for their defense came up strong behind Ivan and Ron's pitching, shutting St Matt's 16-0.  This was the Red Hots 2nd shutout in franchise history.  Their first was back in Sep 16th 2006 defeating Half & Half  19-0.
